MEET THE TEAM
Micah Carr-Hill, Co-Founder & Development Director
Micah is a food consultant and product developer to the food & beverage industry with over twenty years’ experience, specialising in premium products using his highly attuned tasting skills. Whilst he is a food scientist by qualification he has always worked as part of a marketing team. He also cut his teeth in the wine industry where he learnt how to taste, gaining a WSET diploma.
As Head of Taste at Green & Black’s chocolate he developed all products since 1999 to 2013. His new product development saw the brand grow from approximately £2m to £55m. He also currently serves as Head of Taste for Cawston Press, the premium soft drinks company.
He has regularly appeared in national and international print and broadcast media, including live television in Canada and The Martha Stewart Show in the US. He also part-authored and edited Green & Black’s second recipe book, Ultimate.
As Development Director, Micah is responsible for guiding all development projects at Tastehead. He serves as technical lead for most of our projects, whilst often also being the lead developer on all beverage projects.
Brandt Maybury, Co-Founder & Managing Director
Brandt has had a successful career as a chef and food consultant in almost every sector of the food industry, from gastropubs and Michelin star restaurants, to 5 star hotels and French ski resorts. In recent years he has worked as a development chef for several large companies developing a wide range of products for famous brands and private label ranges. Brandt has also gained valuable production experience over the years, project managing factory trials and launching products from concept through to launch. He has won several awards for his creations.
Brandt held the position of Taste Specialist at Green & Black's chocolate for 5 years, developing new product ranges and recipes whilst serving as 'face of the brand' in all media comms and PR activations. He is a regular judge for several food awards, including the Great Taste Awards, World Food Innovation Awards, Academy of Chocolate, and Soil Association's BOOM awards.
As Managing Director, Brandt is responsible for the day to day running of Tastehead and our team, whilst ensuring he is available to attend key client presentations and meetings. He still regularly rolls up his sleeves and works alongside the development team in the kitchen and tastes every sample that is presented to our clients.
Alec Stuart, Commercial Director
Alec has a strong commercial background, having worked as National Account Manager for numerous retailers on behalf of some of the most famous brands in the UK and around the world, including Cadbury, Belvita, Maynards Bassetts and Oreo.
He started his career on the Commercial Graduate Scheme at Mondelēz International; the largest snacking company in the world. Alec worked across multiple functions during this time including field sales, sales revenue planning for all of the major retailers in the UK, marketing and business development, eventually serving as a NAM with a key focus on wholesalers and forecourts.
He gained valuable experience as Brand Executive at Green & Black's chocolate. Responsible for the gifting and seasonal categories, Alec helped bring the premium brand back to strong growth. He helped the brand activate its largest new product launch in many years, in addition to working on national PR projects, creating and running consumer events and festivals and managing brand partnerships to help drive sales.
As Commercial Director, Alec ensures that all Tastehead development projects have the best chance for commercial success, leading all work on our market research and consumer testing services. He also serves as our client relationship manager, ensuring that there is always regular communication with our clients when the rest of the team are busy in the development kitchen.
Lizzy previously worked as Food Development Executive for Hello Fresh, creating over seven hundred recipes for the leading meal kit brand. She has extensive experience in sensory and product testing, in addition to a strong understanding of ingredient sourcing, costings and product marketing.
Food Stylist & Consultant
Sylvain is a highly skilled chef, food consultant and stylist. During his varied career he has worked as Head Chef at leading tapas restaurant Moro, a cheese monger at Neil's Yard Dairy and NPD consultant for Green & Black's. In recent years he has refocussed as a food stylist, working on professional shoots and TV adverts for brands such as Carte D'Or, Chivas Regal, Mr Kipling and C4's Come Dine With Me.
Eaman is a chef with experience across a wide range of cuisines and businesses, including a role as Teaching Chef at Jamie Oliver's Cookery School and a position at an award-winning vegan café. He holds a professional chef qualification recognised by the Craft Guild of Chefs, and specialises in sourcing and applying specialist and technical ingredients in our projects.
Gemma has a strong background in project and office management. With a PRINCE2 project management qualification, Gemma helped two highly successful tech start-ups scale up with multiple sites and hundreds of employees. Her skills are now spread across business operations, project research, manufacturer sourcing, accounts and HR.
Our dedicated office and development kitchen in West London is the perfect base for your development projects. Our facilities include reception area, presentation room, development kitchen, photography studio and plenty of desk space, in addition to ample onsite storage for project materials, equipment and shelf life testing.
We can host clients, key partners and cross-agency meetings in our meeting and presentation area. Our development kitchen can hold tasting sessions and run training workshops for up to 12 people. For special occasions our whole premises can become your own development centre for hosting investor pitches, buyer meetings or press and media launch parties, with the opportunity for you to introduce your team of development experts and demonstrate how your new products were developed.
